Tired surburban to contemporary living

 

The north shore home built in the 1970’s was transformed to meet the needs of a young family to have an open plan living space flowing into the wide barbecue deck and a level garden with pool.  

The client’s scope included a contemporary, sophisticated in / outdoor renovation with designer bathrooms and the kitchen being the focal point of the home.

The client intended to sell within a short time frame and hence had a strict budget to ensure maximum resale value.

Modern Commercial

 

370 Townsend is a 2,400 sq. meters former retail / warehouse site located in San Francisco’s SOMA district. 

The building went through a transformation to become a single tenant Creative Technology Office conversion.

The clients brief was to transform the raw shell into a flexible open plan office.  With a large floor plate and windows on the front facade, only the introduction of light wells strategically placed, transformed the interior from a raw warehouse into a light filled space. 

The buildings existing features add to the design.  The brick chambers which used to serve as high chimneys to smoke meat now serve the tenant as meeting rooms. The redundant lift shaft becomes an internal hanging sculptural garden.

Creative Workspace

 

185 Clara is a 3,600 sq. meters former supermarket site located in San Francisco’s SOMA district.  The area went through a significant transformation during the 1990’s as a result a technology hub was created.  The clients brief was simple, transform the site into a ‘Creative Space’ for up and coming Technology Start Up’s from around the world.

The open plan with private meeting spaces, high ceilings, exposed materials, graffiti art by local artist and indoor plants help to foster an innovative and creative environment.

90's Apartment Transformation - work in progress

 

This 90's apartment is one of our current projects located on the Freshwater headland.  The client's brief is to transform this tired 90's cream apartment into a light filled space that responds to its setting overlooking the sea.  

The scope includes the addition of a new bathroom and laundry and linking the expansive exterior to the living space internally.  The entry to the apartment needs to be a statement piece that provides a glimpse to the internal transformation.

History welcomes a new generation - work in progress

 

This lower north shore home built in the 1900 has gone through minimal alterations and additions over the years with period features remaining largely intact. The period features such as the slate roof, internal fireplaces and ornate ceilings add to the charm of the property.

The current homes spacial configuration is poor with a segmented floor plan. The client's brief requires the transformation of the existing spacial arrangement to incorporate an open plan living space connecting to the outside. The rear of the property and backyard is bathed in morning sunshine and hence will add to the much sort out external living space.  

 

 

Kitchen - The heart of the home - works in progress

 

This lower north shore bungalow home has gone through a few alterations over the years.  The main one being the addition of a second story and internal reconfiguration to accommodate this.  The clients brief required the internal transformation to allow for a more cohesive use of space that suites the way the family lives. The property is access by visitors from the rear hence a clearly defined front entry was missing.  The design works within the existing footprint  to accommodate a defined entrance, internal laundry and an open plan kitchen dining room opening to the backyard through a servery.
